Title A Digital Strategy for the Government Masses
Level API 101
Abstract We've reached the 3 month mark since President Obama mandated that 246 federal departments and agencies need to implement a digital strategy set for by the White CIO, Steven VanRoekel. The goal is to change the culture of agencies from PDF as default output, to machine readable as default output. As part of the Digital Strategy, the White House, GSA are looking for industry leadership to help departments and agencies to best deploy APIs in a meaningful, and realistic way. We'd all love everything to be REST compliant, but how do we provide information for our government use when crafting their API strategy, and deploying various services. The next 3, 6 and 9 month periods are critical, and our government is open to feedback, what can we do to help them get on track and be successful?
