FrNonMetricTraits comprises the following 14 cranial and mandibular non-metric traits. For some of these traits, different characteristics might be present (in brackets). To distinguish these characteristics of the same non-metric trait, integers are used to denote the characteristic which is observed. See data collection for further information.
Cranial non-metric traits
- Biasterionic suture
- Frontal foramen
- Inca bone (complete, partite, partial)
- Infraorbital foramen (partite)
- Infraorbital suture
- Lambdoid ossicle
- Metopic suture
- Ossicle at bregma (located centrically, protruding into the frontal or parietal bones)
- Ossicle at lambda (protruding into the occipital or parietal bones, triangular shape)
- Parietal foramen
- Partitioned temporal squama
- Supraorbital foramen
Mandibular non-metric traits
- Enamel pearl
- Mental foramen (absent, multiple)
The translation of the Latin terminology from the Freiburg data entry form is mainly according to the terminology from Hauser & DeStefano 1989, partially from Saunders & Rainey 2008.
