WEKO is an open source repository software package used for building open access repositories. It has been developed by the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan, since 2008. WEKO is a module of NetCommons2 which is a kind of Contents Management System also developed by NII.
WEKO manages metadata and files in units called "Items". Items belong to one or more indexes in "Index Tree". Metadata schema of items are defined as "Item types", which consist of several metadata fields associated with attribute types and display options.
WEKO3 is the next generation of WEKO, designed as a repository software supporting open science. It is developed based on Invenio3 that is a digital repository framework developed by CERN and its community.
