e) Motor and Battery sizing of the system

Power supply

  • At 12 V current required = 300 mA

  • Factor of safety = 1.2

  • Therefore, Total current required = 300*1.2 = 360 mA

  • At 5 V current required = 880 mA

  • Factor of safety = 1.2

  • Therefore, Total current required = 880*1.2 = 1056 mA

Motor Sizing

  1. DC Motor
  • F = m*g
  • F = 0.763*9.8 = 7.47 N = 0.763 kg
  • T = F*r
  • T = 0.763*2 = 1.526
  • Factor of safety = 1.2
  • Therefore 1.526*1.2 = 1.83
  • We are using 60 rpm DC geared motor
  1. Servo motor
  • F = m*g
  • F = 69*9.8 = 676.2 N
  • T = F*r
  • T = 676.2210^-3 = 1.352

Battery Sizing

  1. Servo motor
  • Battery capacity = T * I * number of motors = 1 * 650 * 2 = 1300 mA
  • Factor of safety = 1.2
  • Therefore, Total current required = 1300 * 1.2 = 1056 mA
  1. DC Motor
  • Battery capacity = time * current * number of motors = 1 * 300 * 1 = 300 mA
  • Factor of safety = 1.2
  • Therefore, Total current required = 300 * 1.2 = 360 mA
