5.1 JUSTIFICATION FOR SCORE GIVEN
DESIGN NO | OBJECTIVE | SCORE ALLOCATED | JUSTIFICATION FOR THE SCORE |
---|---|---|---|
1 | SAFETY | 6 | Reliabe as compared to others. |
EASE OF USE | 9 | The design is environment friendly. | |
PORTABILITY | 7 | It is portable. | |
USE OF STANDARD PARTS | 10 | Good and cheap parts are used. | |
COST | 8 | Feasible as it works manually. | |
2 | SAFETY | 6 | For safety reasons, the use of these types of knives should be avoided since the danger of injury is not inconsiderable. |
EASE OF USE | 9 | It is used to cut multiple wires but without any manual support. | |
PORTABILITY | 7 | Portability is not easily carried out. | |
USE OF STANDARD PARTS | 10 | The mechanism used in this design is easily available. | |
COST | 8 | It could result in a power failure or some scenarios, cost time-especially if the wires are are insulated. | |
3 | SAFETY | -6 | It is designed to be safe and efficiency enough so that the wires can be cut into required size to save storage space. |
EASE OF USE | 9 | Easy to cut wires as compared to datum. | |
PORTABILITY | -14 | Materials used in this design and datum are same so probability doesnt vary much. | |
USE OF STANDARD PARTS | 10 | Same as datum. | |
COST | 16 | It is cost efficient. | |
4 | SAFETY | 6 | this mechanism is implemented with little effort, efficiently and in a tool-friendly manner. |
EASE OF USE | -18 | It is often the technical problems associated with each approach, or conversely their ease of use. | |
PORTABILITY | 7 | Portability is very low. | |
USE OF STANDARD PARTS | 10 | Uses high quality components. | |
COST | 8 | As compared to datum the cost would obviously increase. |
5.2 SELECTED DESIGN
5.3 PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN : The base is made of foam board in a such a way that it can carry the load of the whole equipment. A arcylic sheet with a hole at its center is fixed perpendicular to the base and a support for spool, motors, and wire cutter is mounted on to the base. As a part of input unit display and buttons are provided so that the user can input the desired length of wire he requires. Then as apart of storage unit a container is provided where the processed wire is stored. Fabrication of Mechanical System: At first we made base for whole assembly on which different mechanical parts are assembled. Base is made up of foam board which is capable of carrying load of all mechanical parts. Then arcylic sheet is mounted on the base which acts as a support for the motors and passage for the wires. Later on other components of the machine such as cutter, spool, nuts and the electronic components such as displays, Arduino board and bread board along with motors and all the equipments and sensors are fixed.
