Fire and Flames ‐ Player Guide - Quarris/FireAndFlames GitHub Wiki
Welcome to the Fire and Flames mod! This mod adds an advanced crucible system for melting, alloying, and casting metals in Minecraft. The mod centers around building a multiblock crucible structure that can reach high temperatures to process various materials.
Quick Start
Fire and Flames revolves around the Crucible - a multiblock structure that serves as the heart of all metal processing operations. Once built, you can:
- Smelting various items and blocks into molten fluids
- Alloy different molten metals together to create new materials
- Cast molten metals into items using casting tables or blocks using casting basins
- Melting entities that fall into the crucible for additional resources
Getting Started
Essential Materials
Before building your first crucible, you'll need:
- Fire Clay - Craft fire clay balls and smelt them into fire bricks
- Fire Bricks - The primary building material for crucible blocks
- Casting Equipment - Ingot casts, nugget casts, casting tables, and casting basins
Fire Clay (left) and Fire Bricks (right) - essential materials for crucible construction
Your First Crucible
The simplest crucible is a 1x1x1 structure with:
- Crucible Controller - The brain of the operation
- Fire Bricks - Structure blocks
- Crucible Burner - For solid fuel
- Crucible Drain - For fluid interaction
Simplest 1x1x1 Crucible structure
Main Components Overview
Core Blocks
- Crucible Controller - Heart of the Crucible, manages all operations
- Fire Bricks - Basic structural blocks for the crucible walls
- Crucible Window - Transparent blocks to see inside the crucible, can replace Fire Bricks
Fuel Systems
- Crucible Burner - Provides heat using solid fuels (coal, wood, etc.)
- Crucible Tank - Provides heat using fluid fuels (lava, etc.)
Fluid Management
- Crucible Drain - Allows interaction with fluids in the crucible
- Crucible Faucet - Extracts fluids into tanks or containers below
Casting Equipment
- Casting Table - Forms items from molten metals
- Casting Basin - Forms blocks from molten metals
Heat and Temperature
The crucible operates on a heat system. Different recipes require different heat levels. Higher heat levels also provide speed bonuses for smelting and alloying operations.

JEI Integration
Fire and Flames provides full integration with Just Enough Items (JEI). All recipe types - crucible smelting, alloying, table casting, basin casting, and entity melting - are displayed in JEI with their heat requirements, fluid amounts, and timing information.
