Crucible Construction Guide
The crucible is a multiblock structure that forms the core of the Fire and Flames mod. This guide will walk you through building crucibles of various sizes and configurations.
Basic Requirements
Every crucible requires:
- Crucible Controller - Can be placed at any position in the side wall
- Fire Bricks - Form the walls and structure
- Crucible Window - Same as Fire Bricks, but allows you to view inside the Crucible.
- At least one fuel provider - Crucible Burner or Crucible Tank
- At least one drain - For outputting fluids
- Casting Faucet and Basin - Crafting with fluids
Construction Steps
Step 1: Plan Your Size
Crucibles can be built in various sizes, up to a 23x23x23 (Configurable) We will be making a Crucible with internal size 3x3x3.
Step 2: Foundation Layer
Build the 3x3x3 base of Fire Bricks.

Step 4: Wall Construction
- Add Crucible Controller
- Add Fuel providers (Burner or Tank)
- Add Crucible Drains, Faucets, Tables and Basins

Step 5: Validation
Once complete, the crucible will automatically validate its structure:
- Valid: The controller will activate and show the crucible interface
- Invalid: Check for gaps, missing controller, or structural issues
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Crucible Won't Form:
- Check that the Crucible Controller is at the bottom center
- Ensure all walls are complete with Fire Bricks
- Make sure there are no gaps in the structure
No Heat Generation:
- Add fuel to Crucible Burners
- Fill Crucible Tanks with lava or other hot fluids
- Check that fuel providers are connected to the structure
Can't Access Fluids:
- Add Crucible Drains to the walls
- Install Crucible Faucets for automatic extraction
Advanced Tips
Multiple Fuel Sources
- Combine burners and tanks for consistent heat
- Different fuel types provide different heat levels, but the highest heat level always applies
- Combining high and low heat fuels improves efficiency while maintaining high heat levels
