Motor Sizing

Volume of wall= (30250.3)cm= 225cm^3

  • Mass of the wall= density* volume =1.185* 225* 4=1066.5grms =1.066kg

Volume of drumstick=pi* r^2* h =3.14* 0.8^2* 39.713 =79.843cm^3

  • Mass of drumstick= density* volume = 1* 79.843* 2 = 159.68grms = 0.16kg

Volume of steel strips= 20.9* 0.476* 40 =397.93cm^3

  • Mass of steel strips=density* volume =8.05* 397.93 =3203.33grms =3.2kg

Therefore, total mass of bot= 1.066+0.16+3.2 =4.426kg

Weight of the bot= 4.426kg Number of DC motor= 2 Weight acting on 1 DC motor= 4.426/2=2.213kg Radius= 8* 10^-3 m Coefficient of friction(n)=0.4 g= 9.8m/s^2 Force, F=n* m* g =0.4* 2.213* 9.8= 8.674N

Torque, T= F* R = 8.674* 0.008 = 0.069N-m = 0.676kg-cm

Total torque= T* FOS = 0.676* 1.5 = 1.014kg-cm

Therefore, 2 DC motor of 100rpm each is required.

Battery Sizing

  • For 12V the total current required is 600mA i.e 0.6A
  • For 5V the total current required by is 170mA i.e 0.17A

Assuming FOS as 1.2, so

  • For 12V adaptor the total current required = 600* 1.2= 720mA
  • For 5V adaptor the total current required= 170* 1.2= 204mA

Therefore, we need 12V and 5V adaptor each of 1A current ratings.
