MOTOR SIZING AND BATTERY SIZING

1)DC MOTOR:

Mass of shaft(m)=55g =0.055 kg

Radius of the shaft(r)=12.5mm=1.25cm

Coefficient of friction between nylon rod and foam sheet(mu)=0.06

Acceleration due to gravity(g)=9.8 m/s^2=980 cm/s^2

Factor of safety(f)=1.5

Force(F)=m x g x mu=0.055 x 980 x 0.06=3.234N

Torque=F x r x f=3.234 x 1.25 x 1.5=6.0637kg-cm

DC MOTOR- 15 rated r.p.m at 12V

2)Servo MOTOR 1:

Mass (m)=35g =0.035 kg

Radius of the shaft distance (r)=10mm=1.0cm

Acceleration due to gravity(g)=9.8 m/s^2=980 cm/s^2

Factor of safety(f)=1.5

Force(F)=m x g =0.035 x 980 =34.3N

Torque=F x r x f=34.3 x 1.0 x 1.5=51.45kg-cm

2)Servo MOTOR 2:
