6.5 Mechanisms and Resource Specifications

Battery Sizing

Servo motor for Seed Dispenser:

Volume of circular plate = 100.48 cm³

Density of foam sheet = 0.0005045 kg/cm³

Mass of circular plate = volume * density = 100.48 * 0.0005045 =0.05069 kg.


Force of circular plate = mass * gravitational acceleration = 0.05069 * 9.81 = 0.4972 N

F=W=weight of container = 1 kg

Total force = Force of foam sheet + Force of circular plate = 0.4972 + 1 = 1.4972 N

Torque = Force * radius = 1.4972 * 8 = 11.97 kg/cm

Tfinal = torque * safety factor = 11.97 * 1.5 = 17.955 kg/cm.

Power calculation:

Servo motor stall current = 1600 mA

Factor of safety = 1.2

stall current * FOS = 1600 * 1.2 = 1920 mA @ 5v

Hence the Adaptor of 5v and 2A is selected .
