Before you install
The installation script will install the Project portal to a site collection you choose. The script will not create this site collection - you will need to configure this first.
Installation pre-requisites
- The script creates a global taxonomy group "Prosjektportalen" in the Managed Metadata Service with a few terms sets and terms. Hence, the user that is used during installation needs to be a term store administrator.
- Part of the installation is creating managed properties in the search service application. This has to be done with an account that is SharePoint administrator.
- The site collection ("Områdesamling") needs to be created before you start. The user that is used during installation needs to be a site collection admin. See below.
- (On-Premises) The SharePoint environment needs to be patched to a recent cumulative update. You will get issues if the SharePoint environment isn't patched in the recent 3-6 months.
- (On-Premises) The search service in the farm must be in place and running incremental or continuous crawls. You will be able to install without search being set up, but you will not be able to fully use the Project Portal.
- (On-Premises) The user profile service application needs to be in place.
Term Store settings
If you have a Site Collection created in Norwegian, you should add Norwegian (bokmål) as working language. If your farm or tenant is primarily in Norwegian, we recommend setting the default language to Norwegian (bokmål).
Site collection settings
We do not currently support using a modern communication site or group site as Prosjektportalen-foundation. We are working on a new version of Prosjektportalen that will use modern experience and group sites, see https://github.com/Puzzlepart/prosjektportalen365.
The site collection needs to be created as a classic Team Site ("Gruppeområde (klassisk)"). You will have to use the classic admin center in Office 365 to find this option. Create a norwegian site collection if you want Prosjekportalen in norwegian. English is also supported, although less tested and adopted. For instance, in Office 365 you will typically create the site collection with these settings (you are free to choose your own name and url of course).
