Power consumption - Project-Stinger/Main GitHub Wiki

V1

The following numbers are based on the recommended battery in Battery compatibility

In any case, it's best to turn Stinger off when you are not using it. But at least this will give you a sense of how long you can keep it on for. Stinger does have an idle alarm in Battery Menu, because there is no physical cut off switch to save your battery in case you keep it turned on. If you leave your battery plugged in, it will drain until the battery is fully dead (permanently broken).

While motors are off

We measured a current average of 90mA. This will completely discharge a full battery within 7 hours. Keep in mind that if you have an inactivity alarm set (this is the default), the battery will last much shorter. Depending on the beeping volume, this is usually about 1h or less.

While motors are idling

We measured a current averaging around 400mA when running at 3000 RPM. So this will discharge a full battery in approx 1.5h.

V2

With the recommended 6S battery, we measured roughly the following currents. These are not exact, but should give you a rough idea.

  • Standby: 15-20mA -> 30h
  • Motors off, screen on: 100-130mA -> 4-5h
  • Motors idling @3k RPM: 250mA -> 2h
  • Motors idling @5k RPM: 450mA -> 1h
  • Motors idling @10k RPM: 1A -> 30min
