Getting the visual - Profitbase/PowerBI-visuals-Gantt GitHub Wiki
You can add the Profitbase Gantt Chart visual to your reports either by getting it from Microsoft AppSource or by manually downloading and installing the latest release file from GitHub.
How to Get the Gantt Visual
1. Get the Visual from AppSource
The easiest way to get the visual is to search and add it directly within Power BI. You can also view it on the web via Microsoft AppSource.
2. Download the Latest Version from GitHub
Newer versions and feature updates are published to GitHub before they are released on AppSource. You can download the latest .pbiviz package file from the GitHub Releases page.
How to Install the GitHub Release Version
If you choose to use the .pbiviz package from GitHub, follow these installation steps to ensure Power BI uses your downloaded file correctly.
Step 1: Register as an Organizational Visual
An administrator must register the visual in the Power BI Admin Portal. For instructions on how to do this, see the Microsoft organizational visuals documentation.
[!IMPORTANT] Do not attempt to import the
.pbivizfile directly into your Power BI Desktop or Service workspace. If you do, Power BI will automatically download the older public version from AppSource and ignore your local file.
Step 2: Import from the Organizational store
After registering the visual in the portal, report authors can import it:
- Open your report in Power BI Desktop or Service.
- In the Visualizations pane, select the ellipsis (
...) and click Get more visuals. - Select the Organizational store tab and import the Gantt visual from there.
[!NOTE] If you import an organizational store visual from a local file, it will live alongside the standard AppSource version. It will not automatically update or change versions when standard visual updates are released to AppSource.
