The conditional expand and collapse feature allows you to define rules to dynamically expand or collapse specific rows in your task hierarchy. This helps you control the initial presentation of large, complex Gantt charts by automatically collapsing sections that meet certain criteria (such as tasks under a specific department or grouping) while keeping others expanded.
How to Set Expansion Conditions
Step 1: Enter Edit mode
Click the ellipsis (...) in the top-right corner of the visual container in Power BI and select Edit to open the visual's custom options menu.
Step 2: Configure expansion rules
In the edit workspace, select the expansion configuration options to define your conditions:
- Select the column you want to base your rule on (for example, "Grouping").
- Set the rule condition (such as "contains" or "equals").
- Enter the text value to match (for example, "Website").
- Choose whether to Expand or Collapse the matching rows.
