Dependency Offset - Profitbase/PowerBI-visuals-Gantt GitHub Wiki

The Dependency Offset setting automatically schedules dependent tasks on your timeline based on their predecessor relationships. When enabled, it dynamically shifts the start dates of successor tasks to align with the schedule of their predecessor tasks.

1. How Dependency Offset Works

To illustrate this feature, consider two tasks with a Finish-to-Start (FS) dependency, meaning the first task must finish before the second task can start.

Offset Disabled (Off)

When Dependency Offset is turned off, dependent tasks remain at their originally scheduled start dates in your dataset, regardless of when their predecessor tasks actually finish. This can result in gaps or overlaps on your timeline.

Offset Enabled (On)

When you turn Dependency Offset on, the visual automatically shifts the start date of the successor task to align directly with the end date of its predecessor task, ensuring a continuous schedule.
