The Chart Options card controls formatting settings like fonts, row height, gridlines, default hierarchy expansion, and taskbar borders.

1. Chart Formatting Settings

You can configure the following basic layout and design options in the Format pane under the Chart Options card:

  • Font Family: Sets the font family used for all text in the data grid and timeline headers.
  • Row Height: Sets the height of each row in the grid and timeline in pixels.
  • Default expand rows: Choose whether parent tasks are expanded or collapsed by default when first opening the report.
  • Default expand to level: Sets how many levels of the task hierarchy are expanded by default.
  • Show Grid: Toggle to show or hide horizontal grid lines in the data table.
  • Show Timeline Grid: Toggle to show or hide vertical and horizontal background grid lines on the timeline chart area.
  • Grid color / Timeline Grid Color: Sets the line color of the grid lines.
  • Timeline Grid Weight: Sets the line thickness in pixels for the timeline grid lines.
  • Multi Taskbar: When ON, a collapsed parent taskbar splits to show gaps between child tasks. When OFF, it displays as one solid bar.
  • Show Child Task Borders / Show Parent Task Borders: Adds outline borders around taskbars. Only displayed when Multi Taskbar is enabled.
  • Timeline Grids: Choose timeline grid line direction (Horizontal, Vertical, or Both).
  • Show 100 % as max: Caps displayed task progress values at 100% in tooltips.

2. Advanced Layout Features

Default Expand Rows

  • Turn Default expand rows ON to automatically expand parent tasks.
  • Set Default expand to level to 0 to only show the root level parent tasks, keeping sub-tasks collapsed.

Multi Taskbar

When parent tasks are collapsed, this option controls how gaps between underlying child tasks are represented:

  • Expanded State (Reference): The parent bar spans from the earliest start date to the latest end date of its child tasks.

  • Collapsed (Multi Taskbar ON): Splits the collapsed parent bar to show scheduled gaps between child tasks.

  • Collapsed (Multi Taskbar OFF): Displays the collapsed parent as a single solid bar, ignoring gaps.

Font Family and Row Height

  • Arial, Rows 32 pixels height, Grid On (Default):
