Meshes and Textures

Examples: Better-Shaped Weapons, Noble Skyrim, Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM)

Meshes and textures replacers that don’t include a plugin are fully compatible.

Meshes and textures replacers that include a plugin to redirect file paths require a compatibility patch if the plugin modifies the same records as Requiem. A Bashed Patch can automatically forward such graphical changes if properly tagged, in which case you do not require any hand-made compatibility patches.

NPC and Racial Visuals

Examples: Bijin Warmaidens, Ethereal Elven Overhaul, Windsong Immersive Character Overhaul

The Reqtificator can automatically forward such visual changes. You do not require any hand-made compatibility patches for this kind of mod.

Playable Races

Examples: Dagi-Raht Race, Half Dragon Race, The Uchiha Clan

The Reqtificator coarsely patches the base stats and functionality of new playable races. If the stats and abilities were balanced for Vanilla, they'll be within reason for Requiem too. However, the Reqtificator cannot automatically patch the vampire variant of a playable race. A hand-made compatibility patch is required if you intend to play as a vampire of a new race.

Game Mechanics

Examples: Frostfall, iNeed, Loot and Degradation

This is a difficult kind of mod for which no general statement can be made. If they primarily add new features instead of modifying existing ones, they might technically be compatible out of the box. But in any case, they will likely need some adjustment and tweaking to fit into Requiem’s world.

Weapons and Armors

Examples: Heavy Armory, Immersive Armors, Scoped Bows

The Reqtificator coarsely patches the base stats and keywords of new equipment. If the equipment stats and keywords were balanced for Vanilla, they'll be within reason for Requiem too.

If an equipment mod distributes its content via the leveled lists in the game, a compatibility patch is required to make the mod play nicely with Requiem. Requiem delevels the entire game, which includes large-scale changes to leveled lists. Not only is all content allowed to spawn at player level 1, but also the content which can spawn is adjusted, e.g. by removing items that bandits should never get in Requiem. Since this type of rebalancing cannot be done with simple algorithms, a hand-made patch is required. The Reqtificator can automatically merge changes to leveled lists from all plugins that depend on Requiem.esp to ensure all your added equipment can spawn as intended.

Followers

Examples: Inigo, Lucien, Sofia

New followers are in principle compatible out of the box. However, as perks have much more importance than in Vanilla, the new followers may underperform in and out of combat without a hand-made compatibility patch.

Encounters

Examples: Immersive Patrols, Mihail Monsters and Animals, Skyrim Immersive Creatures

All actors (except followers) have a static level in Requiem and perks have much more importance than in Vanilla. As a consequence, encounter mods generally need a dedicated compatibility patch to fit into Requiem’s world. The Reqtificator can automatically merge changes to leveled characters from all plugins that depend on Requiem.esp to ensure all your added encounters can spawn as intended.

Magic

Examples: Arcanum, Mysticism, Odin

Requiem makes extensive changes to the magic system and adds many new (and old) effects. Since other magic mods usually have different aims and visions, there will be significant discrepancies and imbalances without a dedicated compatibility patch.

Locations

Examples: Beyond Skyrim - Bruma, Vigilant, Wyrmstooth

New locations and quests are compatible out of the box of if they only use Vanilla assets. However, this kind of mod often adds new items, encounters, followers, and spells, in which case the above advices apply.

Gameplay Overhauls

Examples: Adamant, Ordinator, Ultimate Combat

Two mods that conflict on almost everything they touch will not be compatible. Since overhauls usually have different aims and visions, you will not be able to make them compatible with each other without crippling at least one of them. Pick Requiem or one of the others, but not both. Obviously, we recommend Requiem!
