Team 7: Flashy Fashion
Project Name: FLASHY FASHION
Project Overview:
The team is making a wearable piece of fashion that displays pictures stored on the device hereafter referred to as Flashy Fashion (FF). The device idea came around from a discussion between the team members when previously proposed projects obviously became undoable with the current timing constraints. The ideas were that we needed a device that would not only test our skills as engineers but also be interesting enough to keep our attention. On top of the requirements stated for practicum the team had a few requirements of their own.
Requirements:
- Meet all practicum requirements
- Use a battery system for power
- Be more interesting than an LED that lights up
To that end the team decided on Flashy Fashion; an LCD screen that would display graphics stored on the device. Once the object was defined it became apparent what the specifics were as far as the needs were for the project.
Needs:
To come up with a device that would take a team of 4 student engineers under 10 weeks to complete while maintaining a full course load and work. The team also wanted a small device to show off at interviews as an example of previous project experience.
Specific Requirements:
Must
Project must meet all Practicum Requirements
Project must be battery powered
Project must be capable of displaying a single static image
Should
Project should be under 3oz in weight
Project should be roughly the size of a medium belt buckle (roughly 12 square inches)
Project should be easily and safely incorporated in clothing
Project should be capable of showing a single dynamic image
May
Project may have a GUI for Windows and GNU
Project may utilize an SD card for easy storage and image programming
Project may be water resistant up to 1 hour in typical Oregon rain.
Project may be easily sewn into clothing
