The realm of Aaqa on the Elemental Plane of Airwas home to the Vaati.
The Vaati were ruled by 7 Wind Dukes who spread order throughout the planes until The Queen of Chaos waged her war against them.
Most of the Wind Dukes were served by Aarakockra who were Scouts and border guards.
Amophor, the most magically gifted of the Wind Dukes, had bested a Djinni named Kenk and bound him to servitude.
His first wish was the creation of his own royal guard, the Kenku, superior in guile to the Aarakockra in order to protect him against the agents of Chaos and spy against his enemies.
He had not decided his final wishes when his own servants, the ever intelligent Kenku, had schemed to steal Kenk's vessel and flee to the Material Plane.
Amophor discovered the plot too late, but managed to curse his servants for their treachery.
The Kenku, stripped of their wings and voices, could neither return to the Plane of Air nor compel Kenk to grant them wishes.
Kenk's vessel faded into obscurity as flocks stole it from one another until it's value and contents had become lost to time.
