This journal entry was left unintelligible from swamp water. The notes below were all that could be salvaged.
- Shadow creature tries to steal the shield in the night but fails.
- Head out for the Tower of Dramorn.
- 4/5 of the party get horses stuck in quick sand but manage to get them free.
- Ran into a Lizardfolk ambush but manage to scare them off
- As they run, they awaken a Shambling Mound which eats one of the Lizardfolk and then attacks the party.
- The party defeated the Shambling Mound.
5 strangers met with Captain Eli to rid the town ruins of bandits. The ruins had been formed when marauding goliaths and feral elves sacked half the town across the river.
A wizard appeared through a portal, followed by assasins, including a drow mage. The wizard tried to hand off an ornate shield, his last words "the seals are not safe". You dispatched the assasins and recovered the shield.
You, on the trail of the bandits, discovered a gnoll incursion outside the town. You captured a man who you discovered was acting as a liason between the gnolls and local wild elves lead by an elf name Mirophir.
You discovered that the wizard was a renown divination wizard named Endarin the Seer. Endarin was formerly King Gildbards advisor but his obsession over the shield strained his position in court.
You met his replacement at court and Edarin's reluctant ally, Obras the Flamewielder. He explained that the shield, one of 3 artifacts, is a Seal of Heresy. These artifacts imprison the magic gateway to the domain of a dead god. This gods dwindling power was being extracted by a sorceress to empower a king whose rebellion heralded the fall of the Raeyan Empire.
With your help, Endarin was put to rest with more than a little fanfare. At the funeral you met an advisor to King Blackmar to the south, Lady Rhaziem the Spiritwarden. The funeral was interrupted by the defining of the nearby graveyard. You along with Obras and the local Sage of Mystra, Cyril, fought off the undead and stopped a Kenku thief from making off with the shield.
You decided to heed Captain Eli's call to warn the Earl of the Gnoll threat and thus set out to Camp Theod. However you were ambushed by the local wild elves and the elf leading them vanished during the fight. Upon arriving at camp you discovered the Earl had been ambushed on route to Edarin's funeral and Usunaar identified the cure to the Wyvern poison as a fungus known as Scalstool that grows primarily from dead creatures.
Locally, you face the threat of the wild elves and gnolls cutting off the eastern end of the kingdom or possibly threatening the camp and the crossing itself.
You've also been entangled in a plot to recover the Seals of Heresy. The elves of Orrandor and Dwarves in their mountain kingdoms hold the other Seals, but it isn't certain if the same forces that murdered Edarin are pursuing those as well. You do know that Edarin, with all his divining power, placed his faith in you to protect them.
