Getting Started - Povstalec/StargateJourney GitHub Wiki
Though still unfinished, Stargate Journey aims to replicate the exploration aspect of the Stargate Franchise. That is the main reason why you won't immediately be able to create Stargates right from the start and instead, will have to find them and learn to make your own Stargates along the way.
Survival guide
Applies to version 0.6.13 and under, progression system will change in future versions
Finding the Stargate
- Find a Goa'uld Temple
- Inside the Goa'uld Temple there will be a room which houses a Golden Idol, take it
- Use the Golden Idol to craft an Archeology Table
- Place the Archeology Table down near a Villager, who will then become an Archeologist
- Trade with the Archeologist Villager until you unlock the final Master Level trade, Map to the Ring of Gods
It is possible the Villager won't be able to create the map trade if they're too far away from the Stargate structure, try to minimize the possibility of this happening by having the Villager as close to the X=0, Z=0 coordinates as possible
- X on the map marks the spot, dig down and find the Buried Stargate
Dialing the Stargate for the first time
- At the top of the Buried Stargate, there should be a Cartouche that holds the Address to Abydos (You can right-click on it to get the address as a string of numbers). You can dial the gate using the DHD found near the Buried Stargate or dial manually.
Whenever a dimension is dialed for the first time, the game may lag for a few seconds because it's generating new chunks.
Mining Naquadah
Once you've gotten to Abydos, you can start mining the most important material in Stargate Journey, Naqudah.
Naquadah comes in two forms:
- Raw Naqudah: A form of Naquadah that can be used to create Naquadah Alloy when combined with an Iron Ingot
- Pure Naquadah: A form of Naquadah that can be smelted into Weapons Grade Naquadah
Both forms of Naquadah can be mined from Naquadah Ore, with Pure Naquadah being very rare (Fortune III is recommended when trying to mine Pure Naquadah).
Naquadah Ore is found in patches underground on Abydos, however, it is found in higher concentration inside Stone Spires, which generate in the Abydos Spires biome.
Getting back home and finding more Addresses
You will need to explore the planet a bit before you can get back. Around the desert are scattered rock formations which have been dug out and inside is a room containing a Cartouche. This Cartouche may hold one of many Addresses to End, Nether, Chulak and a number of other dimensions you may have if you've installed other mods. However, an Address to Overworld has the highest likelyhood of generating, so once you've found that, you can go home.
Do note that while most of the Dimensions do have Addresses, not all of them have a Stargate. You'll have to bring your own Stargate there.
Obtaining Liquid Naquadah
To obtain Liquid Naquadah, you must craft the Naquadah Liquidizer. Once crafted, if you insert Raw Naquadah and Lava inside, it will produce Liquid Naquadah.
Obtaining Liquid Naquadah
To obtain Crystals, you must first craft the Crystallizer. Once crafted, it will allow you to create Crystals by combining a Crystal Base with different materials and depleting some Liquid Naquadah in the process.
Creating your own Stargate
Once you've obtained Naquadah Alloy, Weapons Grade Naquadah and Crystals, you can craft the Classic Stargate Base Block, Classic Stargate Chevron Block and Classic Stargate Ring Block. To create the Classic Stargate, place them down in the following in the following pattern and then right-click on the Base Block to confirm. (In case Github is acting up and refusing to display it, here is a link to a bunch of images, one of which should be the Classic Stargate and the pattern to build it)
