The Infamy mechanic is the consequence of angering the Illagers as a whole through spell casting or killing Illagers while holding onto a Totem of Souls or wearing a set of Dark Robes and variants.

Each spell has a chance of increasing Infamy by default, though the chance and the whole mechanic can be configured.

Illagers are a proud group of raiders that jealously guard their secrets of magic and lore. To see an upstart dressing in similar robes as their Evokers and discovering their secrets upsets them as a whole.

At first, certain Evokers, angered at the Player's quick discovery of their arcane lore, will come running at them with a shard of what appears to be a Ruby powering their magics.

Then, should the Player continue their insults by murdering more Illagers or casting more spells, more Illagers will come hunting them down, with some being high ranking members to their barbaric society.

If the Player's Infamy is too high, they will obtain Bad Omen randomly.

To gauge the amount of Infamy the Player has obtain, one should craft a Scrying Mirror and right click it on a Cat or a Chicken.

Currently the only way to lose Infamy is by dying. By default, this would reduce the amount of Infamy by 10.
