Person 1

Naam: Peter
Leeftijd: 22

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

The homepage(landing page) of the website has some feeling of a dating site, because of the background you have. The login page and register page look way too sad and don't reflect a dating site environment.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

  • Finding and getting a date with someone I like
  • To be able to view the interests of different people available on the dating site
  • Basic functionlity like creating new account and editing your profile.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

The amor site does not have the coolest style attributes, but it does has some basic functionality like creating an account and logging in. Although, there are some features you could still work on like being able to ** add a photo ** to your profile and also being able to edit your profile.

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site?

  • The look and feel of a dating site.
  • Being able to chat with other users.
  • Being able to like someone on the site.
  • Editing your profile information.
  • A share button, from which you can share someone's profile with a friend.

Person 2

Name: Eva
Age: 18

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

Looks good! Nice homepage! The homepage definitely looks like a dating site. The background is very relevant. The register page and the login page look a bit basic and boring. You could make it more colorful for example. Also, the homepage looks nice, it works fine, but it is also a little lifeless.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

I know some popular dating sites, but I have only used Tinder a few months ago. I expect some basic functionalities like making a profile, uploading a (or some) photos, looking for matches, being able to edit my profile en sending a message to some person that I am interested in.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

If I am not mistaken, you now have four working functionalities: register, login, filter and logout. All the functionalities work, but they are still very fundamental.

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site? When I try to register someone, I can still create an account even when I didn’t fill in everything. You could add some validation to check whether the form is completed or not. At the moment, I can’t upload a photo, and I think that is one of the most important things that a dating site should have. Also, the register page is the only page where I can control my personal information, there isn’t an edit profile page. If I were you, I would add that

Person 3

Name: Jan
Age: 21

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

The homepage gives me the feeling of a dating site, but when I log in, I am a little disappointed by the styling. The homepage and the registerpage don’t really have a consistent connection.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

There are a lot of dating sites and every dating site has different functionalities. You told me that you made this website specially for sporty students, so I expected a more sporty style, so the pink color isn’t the best choice in my opinion. I expect some basic functionalities like register and filtering.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

I can register myself, login, filter on sports and logout. Very basic, but they work. Maybe you can add something to make these functionalities more detailed.

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site?

Uploading a photo is a must! It’s very important that you can see how someone looks. Furthermore, you could add a like button, a chat button, a share button.

After the first usability tests, we decided to create a MOSCOW requirements list Must have: Editing your profile, adding a photo Should have: Look and feel (CSS) Could have: live search Would have: chat system, liking system

Conclusion of the first usability test

The first usability tests have been very helpful. We got feedback to improve the basic functionality of the website for example you could create an account but never edit your profile back. Also, on a dating site, people expected to upload their own photo while creating an account. There were some other couple of insights we got out from the usability tests. These are a live search functionality, chatting system and a liking based system. All these insights were quite helpful and these are functions we could really look at to improve the whole environment of our dating site. But because of the time we had, we decided to use the MOSCOW method to prioritize the improving functionalities.

Second Usability test (after adding new features)

Person 1

Name: Iris
Age: 18

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

The look and feel on the homepage looks fine and it attracts to create a new account. I can create an account and login but the look and feel on the login and register pages is missing.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

That I'm able to find a date on the website. Also, I would like to interact with the person I want to date. Like a chatting system where you can share photos of each other.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

Muaah, like you can create an account, login with it and also have a live search feature in it. The features that the site at the moment has, work fine but there is room for great improvement. Like creating an chat system or like system which tinder uses.

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site?

  • The chatting functionality
  • Liking/swipe functionality

Person 2

Name: Laura
Age: 22

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

The landingpage has a very soft look and feel. Also it has a direct call to action. Almost 1 action per screen.
The overall styling on the website can still be improved and you can still be consistent with the buttons the page. For example the buttons, input fields. On some places the text is not very visible and this can causes irritations for your users. The live search feauture is something very cool and handy to have on a dating site. Also because it looks very cool and attracts your users.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

To find the right match, and date with him/her. On this site, you can find search for person who have the same sporting interests. Also I would expect to see someone's profile and like/dislike it afterwards.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

  • The filter functionality works fine from which you can find a date based on similar sporting interests
  • The edit functionality works also as it should be.
  • The live search is a cool feature to have. Specifically on a dating site, where you can have thousands of users.

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site?

  • You can't see the photo you uploaded
  • Liking someone's profile is still missing
  • Being able to interact and make contact on the site with someone is still missing
  • The site does not has a consistent stylings applied

Person 2

Name: Tom
Age: 22

1. What are your first impressions and does it look like a dating site?

The first look of the website has a decent look and feel. But as you browse through the site, the styling does not remain consistent. Think of, the buttons being used and the colors being used.
Also the dating site does not look very colorful, and also there are not a lot of colors used on the site. You would expect a dating site to be colorful.

2. What are your expectations from the dating site?

When I'm on a dating site, I want to date someone and look for his/her likes and dislikes.

3. Do the functionalities meet a basic dating site standard?

  • Yes, the functionality there is, works fine and without any bugs!

4. What do you want us to add to the dating site?

  • Consistent styling is missing
  • No chatting system
  • No like functionality

Conclusion of the second usability test

After the second usability test, we still got insights that would make our dating site better. However, we also got some surprising answers like the the live search feature was very much liked by all the testers. Other than we still got a lot of recommendations to improve the styling through out the website and be consistent with it. Other feedback we received is about the photo uploading feature. A user can upload a feature but does not see that ever back. That is also something we can improve and add to the website.
