Exporting and Using SVGs - Pixate/pixate-freestyle-ios GitHub Wiki

In this post, Justin and I wanted to walk through the steps of creating a simple vector graphic in Adobe Illustrator, exporting that graphic as an SVG file, and then using that SVG file in your app with Pixate.

Creating and Exporting SVGs

In this first video, Justin walks through the steps of creating a simple vector graphic and exporting it as SVG.

Using SVGs With Pixate

In this video, I take Justin's exported SVG file and use it as a UIButton icon as well as an animated background.

Conclusion

Pixate's use of SVG as a native file format enables you to dramatically reduce the size of your bundled assets by allowing you to use a single vector file to render to the running device's native resolution. Additionally, within the same app, the same SVG file can be utilized at different sizes for different tasks.
