Why have you forked? Why don't you contribute to Diaspora Inc.'s codebase?

Short answer: As they say in Facebookland: "It's Complicated"

Long answer: Read this post on your Diaspora pod of choice:

When will such-and-such feature be merged in[to Diaspora Inc.'s codebase]?

While I have been granted the privilege of being able to commit and merge directly into Diaspora Inc.'s codebase, out of respect for others, I do not exercise this privilege for non-trivial changes to codebases that I did not found. I believe in the effectiveness of peer review: I think the reviewer(s) and merger(s) should be someone(s) different than the author(s) of code. So, features and fixes that I code will only get merged into that fork when and if someone else merges it in.

When will such-and-such feature come to joindiaspora.com?

That's up to Diaspora Inc.

When will such-and-such feature come to my [non-joindiaspora.com] pod?

Ask your podmin (pod administrator) to merge it into his/her server code, or to use one of my release branches. Refer them to the Technical Documentation if they want more detail on how to do that.
