Spyro: AHT 2 ‐ Features (Overview) - PhoenixAki/PhoenixAP GitHub Wiki
Overview of Features
In addition to the base game being randomized in many ways, AHT AP also provides a handful of other features, some of which are unique to AHT, and some are common among randomizers. This page gives an overview of the most notable features - it is not an exhaustive list of everything AHT AP has to offer.
Note: 2 features (shop randomization and open world mode) have their own standalone pages on the wiki due to being significantly more complex.
Notable Features
DeathLink
A feature common to many randomizers that makes it so that if you die, any friends in the same seed who have DeathLink enabled will also die. The same goes in reverse :) You can also choose how many AHT deaths are required before a DeathLink death is sent out to the multiworld, using death_link_amnesty.
Logging and Automatic Fixing of Issues
AHT AP has a logging system which you can customize to get additional information back while generating seeds. It also supports the ability to automatically fix the vast majority of issues that can arise while generating, or you can opt-out of that and have any error result in generation error'ing out.
Goals
Every AP randomizer needs to have a goal or set of goals to determine when you are finished. AHT supports the following as goals:
- Defeating 4 bosses (Gnasty Gnorc, Ineptune, Red, and Mecha-Red)
- Breaking Dark Gems, collecting Dragon Eggs & Light Gems, flaming fireworks, buying randomized shop items, and opening locked chests.
- Talking to the 4 Elder dragons
- Completing minigames Each goal is able to be customized separately so you can choose exactly how much you need to do in order to goal.
Cost Randomization
You can choose to modify the costs of accessing boss lairs, light gem doors, and the 3 gadgets. For each, you can choose to leave the costs vanilla, shuffle them with each other, or have them generate in a customizable random range. You can also force a subset of boss lairs to have the highest cost of the 4, which can be combined with selecting that boss as your goal to ensure that boss is the last one you do. For an example of how these combine, you could have gadgets keep their vanilla Light Gem costs (8, 24, and 40), have Light Gem doors have their costs shuffled (to something like 70, 45, 95, 20 instead), and you could have Boss Lair costs be randomly chosen in the range of 1-20 and force Gnasty Gnorc to have the highest cost after that randomization is done.
Pause Menu Patches
You have the choice between 2 patches that can be applied to the pause menu. In one ("teleport to hub"), you can press and hold Y to teleport to the hub level of the realm you are currently in, as a convenience feature. The other ("open shop") allows you to access the game's shop without needing to be at a shop pad.
Auto-Hinting & Hiding Shop Item Names
You can choose to have minigame and boss fight rewards be hinted automatically, so you know whether they are worth doing or not. Similarly, you can have all shop items have hints generated at the start of the seed, since they are already viewable in-game and not "hidden" information. That is, unless you enable hide_shop_item_names, which makes it a mystery what you'll get for each randomized shop item >:3
Easy Bosses
You can choose to make any, or all, of the bosses take 3x damage so that you only have to hit them once per round. This speeds up the fights significantly.
Skipping Cutscenes and Elevators
The game can be patched to allow you to skip cutscenes with the Y button. You can also have it replace the long waits for elevators in Cloudy Domain, Sunken Ruins, and Magma Falls with a fade-to-black screen load.
Teleport Across Realms
One final quality of life feature is the ability to teleport to any remote shop pad you've unlocked in any realm, from any realm. In other words, if enabled, you won't need to go to a realm teleporter to switch which realm you're in just to teleport to shop pads within that realm.
