Bugs
Experience a bug when setting up or playing AHT AP? Before everything else, make extra sure you have followed the setup guide fully. If still having issues, the rest of this page will step you through common problems and help you troubleshoot.
General Advice/Suggestions
Version Mismatching
When you connect to your seed with the AHT client, it will verify that the game mod version you have installed is compatible with that version of the client. If you have any issues during gameplay, make sure you didn't miss a warning message in the client about an incompatibility. Note that if you are connecting to a seed someone else generated and hosted, you will need to use the same version of AHT AP that the person generating the seed had installed at the time of generating.
Logic Issues
Logic issues are infrequent, due to a lot of time spent reviewing everything after v2.0 redesigned everything. If you ever experience the client or UT saying you can do a location that you don't think you can do, or vice versa, review your settings. Frequently, people will enable open world mode and then forget about the various ways you can traverse the game's levels in a nontraditional manner due to this, and that can be misinterpreted as a logic bug. You also could have been sent an item that you don't realize you have, which can explain some situations. In rare cases, it might be a legitimate logic bug, in which case you are more than welcome to report it to me and I can investigate.
Reporting Bugs
In an ideal world, all bug reports will contain all of the following information, as a bare minimum:
- The versions of everything you're using. This includes Archipelago version, AHT AP version (both the
.apworldand game mod), Universal Tracker, and operating system. - Screenshot(s) of the error, if it is something screenshottable. This could be the text of an error in the client, a map icon being incorret, etc.
- If this is a logic issue involving specific location(s), and you have Universal Tracker installed, please open it and run the command
/explain location_name_here. This command outputs the logical rule that is being evaluated for that location. For example,/explain DV: Dark Gem above Sgt. Byrdwould output what items you need, as well as what logical regions you need, in order to break that Dark Gem.
A master list of every single logical rule (along with all region and location names) in AHT AP can be found here.
