Overview Fossil Fuel Free Investments - PeppermintT/Fossil_Fuel_Free_Investments GitHub Wiki
I have pensions and stocks and shares ISAs. I have invested them in the most ESG, sustainable way possible - I think. However, this is a minefield and worth revisitng. I can re-use coffee cups, carrier bags and cycle everywhere forever - the impact of my pension investments can outdo all that good in no time.
Don't ignore the hard stuff!
My investment objectives
A) Ensure my investments reflect my values:
I need to learn a a method I can apply to:
- i) ensure that my investments reflect my values
- ii)specifically I want to ensure that my investments are as fossil fuel free as possible. (* This point is really important as fund sheets are not detailed enough and I need to work out how I deal with this.)
By investments I mean all my stakeholder pensions from different UK employers and my two stocks and shares ISAs (different tax years).
B) Understand performance metrics so that I can compare:
- i) my 3 different stakeholder pensions from different employers (all in the UK)
- ii) my 2 different stocks and shares ISAs from different tax years.
I have tried this and I get into a muddle because one pot has money going in regularly and one is a fixed pot. What are the metrics I need to be looking at? What are they required by law to disclose? What documents do I refer to when I have to ring them up and ask because they are opaque and seem to be hiding stuff.
C) Understand fees and charges. I would like to:
- i) understand the fees and charges for my stakeholder pensions - basically I want to try and work out whether I need to merge some pensions.
- ii) understand fees and charges for my stocks and shares ISAs
D) What does it mean when I put it together?
I need to then consider whether A) is met and then how I minimise C) and maximise B) subject to the criteria in A).
E) Then what?
Once A-D are in place I will look at forecasts and possible income in retirement and identify adjustments needed.
