I would overall classify Champlain's Network as a Wan because It encompasses multiple Lans in different areas into a combined network spreading across the entirety of campus in smaller lan's. Each building or area of campus is likely its own Lan especially due to the distance between the main campus and the lakeside campus I think it is more likely that Champlain is a WAN than any other network type.
The OSI model is a better model for describing a network because it has more layers with which to separate the network and allows for easier diagnosis of where the problem could have occurred. The TCP/IP model on the other hand has only 4 layers to it making it harder to diagnose where any network issue may have come from. While the TCP Model is more widely used the OSI model is a better but more complex way to describe a network.
