New terms: Multiboot: having two or more os’s one device Easy transfer system: a windows system which helps moving files when installing a new version of windows

There are two main paths to installing an operating system one is to update an already installed version of windows such as upgrading from windows 8 to windows 10, the other is to clean install brand new windows which involve installing windows onto a device that does not have it. When performing an update to windows you need to consider the compatibility between programs on your current windows version as some programs work only on some older versions and would not work on newer windows modes.

A program used to test compatibility is windows upgrade advisor which takes into account computer specifications, installed applications, and connected devices to see if your computer should be upgraded to a newer version or if that would not function properly. If you install a version of windows without the use of an in-place upgrade you will want to use the windows user state migration tool to save files and applications onto your new windows once installed.
