SRB creation step by step - PatPL/Generic-Engines GitHub Wiki

As of GE 0.6.0 you can create your own SRBs. This page will guide you through the process of creating your own SRB.

If you haven't read the First engine guide, click here.

Create a new part.

Set engine's Type to Solid. This will setup the SRB behaviour on the engine: No ullage, No thrust control in flight, no way of shutting down the engine while lit. Other than that, its icon on the staging list will change to SRB.

Select the solid propellant. Solid propellants in 0.6.0: SolidFuel, HNIW, HTPB, NGNC, PBAN, PSPC

Choose SRB model and plume (This step is not necessary. SRB will work even with LF engine model. It'll just look wrong)

(Optional) You can set up the thrust curve. It'll make the thrust depend on how much fuel you have left. This particular thrust curve will gradually lower the thrust during burn, and quickly lower the thrust near the end. Low amount of thrust will allow to safely jettison the booster, while it's still emmiting plume. IRL KSP

Lastly, you have to create a tank in the engine. The menu will suggest avaiable volume based on chosen model, and size. I'd recommend sticking to this value.

Now, that all SRB-critical settings were set, you can change other options. After you're done, export the engine. Don't forget to check the 'Active' checkbox.

That's it! Your SRB should be in the game. Enjoy!
