How to Create an Opportunity
There are two ways of making opportunities.
1. Creating an Opportunity Manually
Go to the Opportunity list and click on "Add Opportunity"
Home > CRM > Sales Pipeline > Opportunity
2. Opportunity From Lead
From the Lead Form select "Opportunity" under the Create drop down as shown below.
Opportunity Form
- Set Opportunity From as "Customer" If the Opportunity is from an existing customer, or set Opportunity From as "Lead" if the opportunity is from a Lead.
- Select the Customer or Lead.
- Enter Opportunity Type, Lead Classification, Sales Person, Sales Stage.
- If applicable, select Financer and Finance Type (Leased or Financed).
- Set Lead Source, Information source, and Territory in the More Information section as shown below.
- Add Item details in the 'Interested in Items' section.
- Enter other data about the person like previously owned items, feedback, key features they like, and ratings about the item as shown below
Following Up and Tracking Communication
- To schedule Follow up reminders click on Schedule Follow Up under the Communication drop-down button on the top right as shown below
- On clicking the Schedule Follow Up button, a popup window will appear where you can add the Follow-up date/days along with the discussion points, as shown below
- Once you schedule the Follow-up, it'll be added to the Follow-up table as below
- Once you take a Follow up, you can submit the communication details, such as the actual contact date and remarks, by clicking Submit Communication under Communication drop-down button on the top right corner of the Opportunity form
- After submitting the communication, remarks will be added at the end of the opportunity form while the actual contact date will be set in the Follow up table as shown below
- If the lead is not interested, you can mark the Opportunity as "Lost" by clicking on the Set as Lost button on the top right corner of the form. If the Opportunity is not converted or marked as lost then it will automatically be marked as "Closed" within a few weeks.
Opportunity Status
Status is an important field in the Opportunity. You can set the status manually and also it will be updated automatically based on your actions against the opportunity. The following are statuses
- Open: Sales executive needs to contact the Lead.
- Replied: A sales executive has provided the information needed and a response from Lead is awaited.
- Quotation: If a Quotation is created against the Opportunity, then the status is set to Quotation.
- Lost: An Opportunity can be marked as lost when a contact has confirmed they no longer have an interest in the item.
- Converted: If an Order has been confirmed against the Opportunity or a Quotation against the Opportunity then the status will be set as "Converted".
- Closed: If the Opportunity has not been active for a long time then it will automatically be marked as "Closed".
