Summary of the day

Completed the wiring of the control system electronics and pneumatics for everything except the arm. The design is unique in that the board has electronics on both sides.

Motors were wired into the CANTalons, the part of the wiring harness that was damaged with a dremel accident was repaired, and the damaged CANTalons have been replaced.

  • Decisions:
  • Concerns:
  • Changes: Replaced damaged CANTalons. re-wired wiring harnesses that were damaged.

Summary of the day

Majority of the CSE (Control System Electronics) wired.

  • Decisions: Relocated CANTalon that was conflicting with the ARM. Finalized electronics mounting locations. Determined best route for the CAN bus.
  • Concerns: One of the wiring harnesses is possibly going to conflict with the placement of the two bottom-mounted pneumatics tanks.
  • Changes: Rotated the RoboRIO by 180deg, and re-routed the appropriate CAN and power wires. Mounted the CANTalon that was conflicting with the arm mount. Soldered 6xEC5 connectors to the CANTalon outputs.
  • Next Steps: Finish cable management on the CAN bus wire harness. Solder the mating EC5 connectors onto the motors and connect them to motor controllers. Solder up the breakout boards for the motor encoders.

Summary of the day

Approx. 80-90% of the electronics & pneumatic have a planned location on the main robot board (Thanks Roger!).

  • Decisions: Decided the location of the pneumatic tanks, approximated majority of electric components.
  • Concerns: The location of the ARM is crucial to the placement of electronics due to it's size.
  • Changes: Outlines have been made for the approx. locations of the electronics. The battery holder has been constructed.
  • Next Steps: Confirm locations and start mounting.
