Welcome to the POINT-VR-Chapter-1 wiki!

Getting Started (For Newcomers)

Welcome to the POINT-VR project. If you're interested in joining the VR Production Team, below are the steps to get set up.

Note: If you weren't at our Onboarding Meeting this fall, make sure to join the discord and message Dante (HolyEnCroissant) to tell us that you want to join the team.

Unity is a tool that is often used for game development or animation. In our case, Unity allows us to translate formulas and ideas into graphics right out the box. It's safe to say that without Unity, this project likely wouldn't exist. As a member of the production team, you will need to learn how to use Unity. The Using Unity page offers learning tools for those new to the program and details the necessary software and specific version of Unity which we use.

Unity scripts are the nuts and bolts of a unity project. It is important that you feel comfortable writing scripts because they are the backbone of our project. If Unity scripting is your first introduction to Object Orientated Programming, you should check out the Scripting in Unity page. Those with experience are free to skip it.

Git is a tool that allows multiple collaborators to work together on a code-based project and it is another essential program for the POINT-VR project. The Using Git page teaches you how to set up Git to work with Unity and describes guidelines for we use the tool in this project.

4. Message the team

If you've looked through the above 3 pages and done the necessary things, then you're almost ready to start working on the project. Please message Dante (HolyEnCroissant).
