General Revolutionary Committee
The General Revolutionary Committee (G.R.C.) was the ruling body of the authoritarian Old Regime. Its remnant is now a hidden organization of defectors who preferred that system. Its goal is revenge on the Cakewalks for tearing it down.

History
The Old Regime
From 1789 the G.R.C. governed the People's Union of Meridia as its single ruling committee. When Columbus Needlemouse overthrew the Old Regime in 1881 and built the democratic balance, the committee lost power. Loyalists and defectors fled abroad and kept the name. The new state's counterweight, the High Court, was deliberately called the Council so that it could not be confused with the committee it replaced. See Government of United Columbus.
First World War
The G.R.C. operated inside Germany and hurt its war effort for its own purposes. It was a parasite on the host state, draining resources, and worked for neither side. After the war it shrank into a hidden group.
Second World War
During the Second World War the G.R.C. kidnapped Prime Minister Batista, then known as Theodore Needlemouse, and tortured him. The kidnapping was staged as a tribunal for "crimes against the state", meaning the Old Regime his family destroyed. Allied forces rescued him.
The rampage
Enraged, Batista killed about 95 percent of the G.R.C. and its leader. This was not authorized by Parliament. While he recovered, Parliament voted to enter the war in force and punish Germany for sheltering the group. See Government of United Columbus.
Aftermath
About 5 percent survived and remain hidden. They stay a long-term threat to the Cakewalk family.
Trivia
- The G.R.C. kidnapped Theodore Needlemouse, since Batista only legally became Cakewalk in the 1970s.
- The name comes from the Old Regime's ruling committee. The word "Revolutionary" is ironic, since the group wants to restore the past.
