Active TARGET Operation and Readback Position Target/Mimosa

If the instrumentation connected to the target is completely OFF, please do this preliminary step for the first turning on:

  • Turn ON the Low Voltage from the button ON/OFF, then push twice RECALL

(Please, ask to the target experts before doing this operation!)

On the Target PC in the CR the USER Target GUI is always open; everyone should be able to use it.

If it's not already open (check to be sure, don't open another GUI if it's already open!), follow the instructions.

Login to target@l0padme3 (pw: YouShouldKnowYourself) and go to "/home/target/DCS/DiamondUser".

How to run the USER Target GUI

  1. source init_dcs_user.sh

  2. root -l UserGUI_Target.C

The GUI is divided in two parts:

a) USER CONTROL DIAMOND on the left;

b) USER FEEDBACK MOTORS on the right.

a) USER CONTROL DIAMOND

A ReadBack of the Low Voltage and High Voltage of the Diamond is provided with a fast refresh.

In addiction there are two buttons:

"SET LV at 5V and HV at -250 V" that allows to TURN ON the Diamond;

"Turn OFF HV and LV" that allows to TURN OFF the Diamond.

Please, Be Careful!

For any necessity, press the "Help" button.

Even if there are some low levels safety control in the GUI, please don't hesitate to stop the GUI if there are any problems - such as written values are not the ones that we expected (REMEMBER: HV -250 V if ON, few umA for the current; LV 5 V, limit current 0.25 A).

Default values

HV( voltage, current ) -250 V, -2umA

LV( voltage, current ) < 5 V, < 0.2 A

Example July 2019 Run:

HV voltage, HV current, LV voltage, LV current

-2.500000E+02 -2.325660E-06 4.987330 0.203217

b) USER FEEDBACK MOTORS

Two potentiometers allow to have a readback of the position of the Target and Mimosa.
The GUI provides the readback of the voltage and current of the potentiometer.
In addiction another box provides the related position of each detector.

!
Be careful:

  1. this first version of the GUI doesn't allow to have a readback of the motors while the diamond is OFF. This point will be implemented in the next version;

  2. the potentiometers have to be fixed better and the written position on the GUI in principle could not be exactly the same of the real one of the ruler.

Safety suggestion: don't move the Diamond while is ON in this phase of the experiment. The instructions of the motors software is available from: Diamond and Mimosa step motors - how to

Please contact Federica ([email protected]) for any problem.
