4.E) Motor Sizing and Battery Sizing of the system

Motor Sizing

Constants:

Acceleration due to gravity, g= 9.8m/s^2 Coefficient of friction, μ= 0.3 Factor of Safety, FOS= 1.4 Data & Calculations:

Mass of the part to be held, m= 40 g= 0.040 kg

Radius, r= 0.015 m

Force(F)

F= μmg= 0.3x0.04x9.8= 0.1176 N

Torque(T)

T= Fxr= 0.1176x0.015= 0.001764 Nm

Considering Factor of Safety(FOS), revised torque is T(final)= FOSxT= 1.4x0.001764 = 0.0024696 Nm

Conclusion:

Thus a Tower Pro SG90 Servo Motor is required with operating voltage between 4.8 V- 5.0 V

Servo Motor specifications: 5V & 650mA. For 3 Servo Motors we need 3x650 mA= 1950 mA

Total current & Voltage required: 2172 mA= 2.172A & 5 V Best power source of 5 V & 2.5 A

For the operation of Bot for 4 hours, a battery of 4 hrx2173 mA= 8688 mAh is required which is equivalent to 8.7 Ah. Thus a battery of 5 V & 8.7 Ah is required.
