Gathering Pertinent Information
Introduction
Today robots are widely used in many fields & disciplines. A robot is a machine, especially one programmable by a computer, capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. Robots can be guided by an external control device or the control may be embedded within. Robots may be constructed to take on human form but most robots are machines designed to perform a task with no regard to how they look.
Pertinent information
Flying discs (including Frisbees) can be thrown in many ways. Each throw involves snapping the wrist as well as flicking the arm to impart gyroscopic stability to the disc and accelerate its mass to a certain velocity. Without spin, a disc will wobble and fall; without velocity, the disc will not go anywhere. Using these two guidelines, any number of throws are possible. Most discs are designed to create lift when thrown with the flat side up.
Some similar robots:
- Presently there are some similar robots of a Frisbee launcher for example:
-
FRISBEE LAUNCHER: Automatic Targeting Frisbee Launcher. This machine uses a camera to automatically aim for the colored target that you selected. It uses a very powerful DC motor to induce linear and rotational motion of the frisbees and shoot them at the target. A servo motor ostensibly pushed the little frisbees out of the frisbee containment tower (dirty tin coffee can) and towards the DC motor.
-
FRISBEE THROWING BOT: This is one of the best examples of a robot thrower of mechatronic design.
