Vocabulary

AboveSpace - additional 4-dimensional space, specific to DangerGalaxy. RealSpace is only a membrane inside AboveSpace. Like HyperSpace, AboveSpace have different scale of distances, but scale changes with moving away from RealSpace along 4th dimenstion.

black hole - region of space from which nothing, not even light, can escape. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole

FTL - faster-than-light. Usually refers to travel in normal space-time with speed above lightspeed (thus considered impossible by current state of science). Instant travels, like teleportation or wormholes, or roundabout travels, like HyperSpace, usually not considered as FTL, and so in DangerGalaxy. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster-than-light

HyperSpace - additional space besides our usual space. In sci-fi hyperspace is usually adjacent space which is accessible from our space, but have different scale of distances - small distance in hyperspace refers to large distance in our space, and so hyperspace is useful for travels at large distances of our space. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperspace_(science_fiction)

jumpdrive - device to open jumppoint near the ship

jumpgate - stationary gate to open jumppoint, creates jumppoint

jumppoint - portal, connecting RealSpace and HyperSpace

light-year (symbol: ly) - unit of length, exactly 9460730472580.8 km

lightspeed - speed of light in vacuum, usually denoted by c. It is the maximum speed at which all energy, matter, and information in the universe can travel (according to current state of science). More information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_light

QuasiSpace - small space, using by specific devices (like PlusMinus engine) to hold ship during their work. QuasiSpace is specific for each ship and device.

RealSpace - our usual 3-dimensional space

sci-fi - science fiction, genre in literature, movies, games and so on. There is no commonly accepted definition what is sci-fi and what it not, more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction

stargate - sci-fi device, allowing to travel between stars (nearly) instantly

wormhole - shortcut through space-time, tunnel between two points of space which is shorter than normal direct way between this points. Considered possible by science but not yet discovered. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wormhole

Unified spelling

Several terms could be written in several ways (light-year or lightyear, black hole or blackhole). Usage should be unified, at least inside this project.

Still unclear ?

If you do not found some term here, you may simply add request - edit page and write new word after this line and '- ?' after that.
