Immersion and theme

The challenge with making this level feel like it was just in a desolate snowfield was to pick different textures that stuck to the theme but also weren't all just white. A big part thematically I leaned on was with the skybox I chose for the level and I think it gives the best feeling of what I was going for. Screenshot (52)

The darkened sky with the moon shining through brought about the isolation that I was hoping to achieve with this map though so tweaks with it will be needed. I think as of right now it is one of the coolest parts of the map

Guidance and Orientation

There are a few spots on the map that can be climbed up like stairs and one way I wanted to use the textures with them is to show that they are climbable Screenshot (53)

While here it's very clear that you have to go over them because of how both the hallway I later use the texture and similar stairs hoping that others will be able to pick up that they are in fact climbable. Making them a different texture also falls into one of Romero's rules about changing floor texture when there are floors at different elevations.
