The Log4j is where you need to setup the error log for CAS, make sure you have set this up before start the CAS up.

Create the log4j.xml file in the path of /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/cas/WEB_INF/classes and add the content from the following link to the log4j.xml file.

Restart the Tomcat7 to start up the CAS SSO
