GeoPackage Explanation - OscarLewis/salmon-fishing GitHub Wiki
All data in this repo is saved in the open source GeoPackage format. This format can store both vector and raster data, but only vector data is currently being used in this repo. A GeoPackage is a database in a container (like ESRI's geodatabase used in ArcMap's). It is an implementation of SQLite. Because of this a GeoPackage is able to hold multiple layers in one file. The only GeoPackage in this repo to contain multiple layers is fishing_range.GPKG
You can load .GPKG files into QGIS in a number of ways:
-
By dragging and dropping the file onto QGIS
-
Via the browser
- Via the data source manager (to use raster data, import using that option)
