Debris - -

(Information on repairing can be found here)

When the Thermal Recycler processes an item there there are certain things that can happen with a component:

  • It is lost
  • Debris is produced
  • The component is preserved and available for other uses, like scrapping
  • It turns to dust in the case of ingots and wood planks
  • Depending on scrap value it can be turned into one of three types of scrap

There are three tiers of scrap: Inferior, Standard, and Superior. Individual pieces of scrap can be placed into a Thermal Recycler that has a Core: Extraction upgrade installed. The Recycler will consume the scrap, and there is a chance that metallic dust will be produced. There is also a good possibility that the scrap gets promoted to the next tier (roughly 20% chance). The quality of the scrap determines the metallic dust produced: Inferior has chances of producing base metals, like iron and tin, whereas Superior scrap has chances of producing dusts for Lumium, Signalum, and Enderium.

Scrap can also be placed into a crafting grid to make Scrap Boxes. As with scrap there are three tiers of Scrap Box. The quality of the box determines what effects it could have:

  • A Scrap Box can be placed into a Thermal Recycler with the Core: Extraction upgrade installed. Because it is a Scrap Box it counts as nine scrap rather than the eight that were used to make it.
  • You can equip the Scrap Box and use it. The Scrap Box will be removed, but you will get a surprise by opening it. You can get stuff like you find in dungeon chests, magic books with at differing enchantment levels, potion effects, XP orbs, etc.

Debris can be used to make Blocks of Scrap. Place them into a crafting grid in a 3x3 pattern to make a Block of Scrap. The Block of Scrap is similar to dirt hardness and resistance, and good for filling up large holes. If you are a heavy user of BuildCraft quarries you know what I mean.

Debris is worth 200 fuel units in a furnace or anything else that consumes furnace fuel, like a Steam Dynamo. If you have Advanced Generators 0.9.13.72+ in your modpack Debris acts as a carbon source for Syngas production.

(For comparison a piece of coal is worth 1600 fuel units.)
