Agenda for Meeting: 13 December 2022 - OpenDataforWeb3/Resources GitHub Wiki

Weekly stand-up reviewing progress ** Updated with shorthand notes on 13 December

Agenda:

  1. Quickly review last week's session and surface any blockers or highlights
  • give and receive positive vibes

** as we grow to 94+ people - we can be thinking about how to organize our work

  1. New items: (please add)
  • Landscape - epowell101 has been adding to this based on inputs via Issues. This is a great start. Do we want to start to have core committers?

** when discussing web site we agreed to add Github based structure to reviews for the Landscape & FAQ & other aspects of the web site ** will be picked up and specified for each type of content on discord

  • FAQs & other resources: progress! next steps?

** see above - more structure ** also - Lens HAS responded again since the meeting & we will be helping contributors that want them to receive profiles

  • Twitter space(s) ** Thursday with Raphtory!

  • Sponsor update: specific proposal from Ocean; also considerable interest from Pocket and TrueBlocks

  • Governance: FactoryDAO? Who wants to lead a POC immediately?

** no one volunteered :) ; @epowell101 will take a shot this week

  • @sarob, @spacetristan Working site is published at https://opendataforweb3.github.io/Landscape/
    • add new repository opendataforweb3.github.io to support the website
    • It needs some marketing advice / direction on content and formatting

** we will discuss on the new channel/thread in discord

  • @sarob I want to add rules that require commits to our important branches to use a PR. With a few of us making contributions, I am concerned that we might start overwriting each other. This will force repository owners to create PRs as well as regular contributors.

** we will discuss on the new channel/thread in discord

  • hosting known Sybil accounts / prospects
    • there is ad hoc sharing of likely Sybils occurring across a few projects
    • it makes people nervous because we don't want to have anything resembling a black list without governance & careful policies
    • we could do this - and thereby also perhaps have access to an incredible data set for training as well as giving back to the community
    • it would require we get the governance we need anyway up and running pretty soon
    • could use it on Ocean as well - access gated

** we had a discussion about this; basically if the data isn't on-chain, it likely isn't exactly the sort of "Open" Data we want to support; also the human review aspect of this is tricky and important; what if someone is immutable tagged as a Sybil and they are not actually one; will that 'Scarlet letter' ever be removed? ** basically agreed to NOT move forward and to instead help interested projects to connect if they want amongst themselves; we are too small and need to focus

  • @sarob orbit is referenced by Nader Lens in his devrel writeup as a good community tool. I want to explore using it but it needs access to discord and github. I wanted to ask about it before jumping ahead.

** lots of +1 to try it out
