Notepack doesn't use any proprietary file format to store data. All files are stored as is without packing them into database. Any time you can stop using Notepack and your notes are ready to open in other programs. If you use Filesystem as backend then all files are stored locally in directory structure. You can use this directory to synchronize it (syncthing,rsync etc), easy backup (copy files, rsync).
