Conversion functions String

• string is a string value type.
• string() is a function converting data items or units of other value types to the string value type.

This page describes the string() function.

• string(a)

• string(a) results in a string data item converted from item a.

Since GeoDMS 20.24.0 string(), and convert to a string unit, write numbers and points without thousand separators, whatever the option Show thousand separator of the GUI Options dialog or the /SH command line option says. Up to 20.23.1 the text of a point, and a conversion to string, depended on that option: string(point_xy(155000.5, 463000.0, dpoint)) could be xy(155,000.5; 463,000), which does not parse back, and keys and storage names made from such texts differed between runs with and without the option. The string of a null point is null; it could be the text xy(null; null).
