Welcome to the OR API User Group wiki!

Started in August 2009, the Oregon ArcGIS Server and API User Group (ORAPI) are a group of web mapping application developers willing to share their ideas and code. It is primarily application programming interface (API) development with Flex, Silverlight, or JavaScript. ArcGIS Server and map services are discussed to some degree as it pertains to application development. Membership is free and any developer can join. ORAPI meets monthly.

ORAPI has supported other user groups who are presenting web mapping applications or services by announcing and attending these other meetings.

Vision

The vision is to provide guidelines to develop professional web applications and take advantage of work already completed, while allow flexibility.

Purpose

The purpose of ORAPI is to provide an informal technical training and sharing of ideas. Currently there few advanced training available for these APIs. The technology changes too rapidly and is very site specific. Likewise, there aren’t many guidelines or standards available. ORAPI discusses these, realizing these are only suggestions for best practices. The ORAPI is also a “go to” group for discussing and gathering information regarding the needs of web services provided by government.
