TAB Charter - Member Selection Process
The process for selecting new members for the Technical Advisory Board (TAB) is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and based on a clear set of criteria. This ensures that the TAB is comprised of individuals who can significantly contribute to the OHDSI open source projects and the community.
Annual and Ad-Hoc Nominations
- Call for Nominations: The TAB holds an annual call for new nominations. Additionally, ad-hoc opportunities may arise when existing members leave the board.
- Open to the Community: Nominations are open to the entire OHDSI community, and self-nominations are allowed.
- Process Transparency: The process and criteria for nominations are clearly communicated to ensure transparency and fairness.
Evaluation and Selection
- Transparent Criteria: The selection of new members is based on a transparent set of criteria and qualifications, as outlined in the Member Qualifications section.
- Voting: Current TAB members vote on the nominees, with a majority required for selection. This democratic process ensures that new members are broadly supported by the existing board.
Onboarding New Members
- Formal Onboarding Process: Once selected, new members undergo a formal onboarding process. This process is designed to integrate them into the board and set clear expectations for their role and responsibilities.
- Introduction to TAB Operations: New members are familiarized with TAB operations, ongoing projects, and the community dynamics.
- Mentorship: New members may be assigned a mentor from among the existing members to facilitate a smooth transition and integration into the board.
The TAB's member selection process ensures that the board remains dynamic, diverse, and effective in guiding the OHDSI open source projects.
