Lab Tests - OHDSI/ETL--PulmonaryHypertensionRegistries GitHub Wiki

Though the mapping of the lab tests with numeric or text results might look like a trivial task, it may cause difficulties when it comes to linked qualifiers. These tests nave potency to describe the disease in brand new fashion and help to evaluate meaningful clinical parameters for disease management update. The example of such a case is an event on event modification: the type of precoordination used in source to define the unique circumstances of the test.

Let us take a six-minute walk test associated measurements. For example, blood pressure or heart rate can be measured before or after the test. So an appropriate standard target concept should be taken, i.e., '6 Min WT diastolic blood pressure (resting)' should be mapped to the ordinary diastolic blood pressure while '6 Min WT diastolic blood pressure (end of walk)' to the blood pressure--post exercise. The same goes for the heart rate, '6 Min WT heart rate (resting)' should be mapped to the just heart rate and '6 Min WT heart rate (end of walk)' to the post-exercise version of that test - 3042292.

If a test has some attributes, they should be stored in the CDM using one of the techniques suggested in the How To Link Facts.

For example, a six-minute test can be performed with a breathing assistance device like a face mask or a nasal cannula. In this case, besides the six-minute walk test itself that additional information should also be stored in the CDM. Here a record in the Observation table is created with the use of supplemental oxygen concept as observation concept id and the Oxygen administration by mask or the Oxygen administration by nasal cannula (procedure) as value as concept id.

Another examples of such tests used in OMOP converted data are:

Source_code Event 1 Logic relationship Event 2
“Arterial O2 (SA pO2) while patient on supplemental oxygen|% “ “Arterial O2 (SA pO2)|% “ Has circumstances supplemental oxygen
“Mean PCWP (during exercise)|mmHg” “Mean PCWP|mmHg” Has time context during exercise
“Six min walk test: SBP (end of walk)|mmHg” “SBP|mmHg” Has time context end of walk
“Six min walk test: SBP (end of walk)|mmHg” “SBP|mmHg” Part of test panel Six min walk test
