Helping everyone get around
We're endeavouring to adopt or extend existing data standards to better support accessibility to community venues and the public transport network. We're dropping our notes and thoughts in this Wiki.
We're doing this project in a number of phases.
- Phase 1 tackles accessibility of:
- public transport stops (bus, ferry, rail, tram)
- toilets
- Phase 2 tackles:
- parking (disabled on and off-street),
- public amenities / Civic Venues (Libraries, community centres, venues for hire)
- accessibility of entrances
- accessibility features (ramps, lifts, seating, wifi…)
- Phase 3 tackles:
- the remaining Public Amenities / Civic Venues
- access points (doorways, driveways)
- routes between nodes (footpaths, pathways; e.g. disabled car park to community hall)
- the remaining Public Amenities / Civic Venues
Each phase has four steps:
- Research existing standards
- Adopt a standard or define a new specification
- contributed to Open Council Standards to encourage use across all Australian Local Councils
- defined as a data package and json table schema.
- Publish data following the standard
- Use the standard data
